5 Online marketing myths

By Alinga

As a Gold Coast online marketing company we often hear weird and wonderful comments from people with their SEO recommendations or believes. Search engine optimisation is a grey area but this short list may help you clarify some beliefs.

1 – You only need to prepare your website for Google

2 – You need to submit your website to the search engines to be found

They will find you – you don’t need to shout out. Don’t pay hundreds of dollars to get your site submitted!

3 – Add a few meta keywords on your website and you’ll be found instantly

Search engine optimisation is a phrase that’s used to often. We prefer to say ‘Search Engine Strategy’ (SES). A structured SES is a collection of SEO practices. Adding some basic <meta tags> and expecting great results won’t accelerate you to the first page. Yes its important, but it’s only 1 small part in the bigger SEO list.

4 – Copying other peoples SEO

If you visit your competitors website and decide that if you copy their onPage SEO, plus make a few additions and your website will soar above them in the rankings, well, it’s lazy and it won’t work.

5 – Buying multiple keyword domains and pointing them to your homepage

This strategy used to work ok but the engines aren’t dumb (you aren’t smarter than the engines).
There is still value for purchasing keyword rich domains and utilising them in a bigger Search Engine Strategy.
