An SEO optimised ecommerce store may not look flashier than any other store at face value, but implementing the tips below will ensure search engines, like Google, are kept happy and will treat your site nicely by showing you to potential customers.

Increase Customer Awareness Through SEO

1. Unique Product Descriptions

When you are uploading 100�s of products to your store the easy option is to use the description from the manufacturers. This will not please Google nor your customers and you may find yourself suffering a penalty.

By taking your time and writing product descriptions that tell the story of the product and the benefits the customer will receive, you will appear in more Google searches results and be a nicer read for customers.

2. Make Your Store Navigation Practical

If you have spent time browsing your competitors stores, you will note that some will have been easy to navigate, others not so much. Google is navigating your store as well.

By ensuring all your categories make sense, and the products are categorised correctly, your best friend Google will be in and out of your store without you noticing (the one customer you don�t want lurking), quickly indexing the pages on your site.

3. Create Eye Catching Metadata

Metadata is the text someone sees when a web page of yours is shown in Google results. If you do not customise this, the metadata defaults to stuff from the page which can look horrible and not make much sense.

Optimally, the metadata needs to be catchy, enticing the searcher to click on your link. You can also further emphasise keywords in this segment to. Win:Win.

4. Being Mobile Friendly Is A Must

More and more people are getting comfortable with purchasing products online direct from their phone.

The larger screen space may help, but a non-mobile optimised site is still nasty to look at and google realises this. Google has now started to punish non-mobile friendly sites by not ranking non-optimised sites when someone makes a Google search from their phone. Make sure yours is mobile-friendly right now.

SEO can be a dreaded topic that must be addressed if you want to maximise your stores potential. It may not be fun, but implementing these tips for each and every page will ensure you are giving yourself the best chance of being found on the web. Don�t forget to keep the practice going when adding new products to your store.
