Recently, there has been trouble afoot in the Twitter camp. Sweeping changes made to the platform in recent months hasn’t gone over well for everyone in the community, with some even heralding the “end of days” for the network in 2016.

While some of the concerns of this vocal minority are very valid, the overall sentiment that Twitter is done for is pretty overblown. The social network is still completely unique in several different ways. Twitters hashtag system is still the best in the industry, and the “trending” section allows you to have a direct weathervane to the heart of social relevance at any given moment. Notice something relevant your brand is trending? Interact with users of the hashtag and you could see your following have some explosive growth in the process. There’s always a conversation to join in on Twitter, it’s all about doing so in a genuine and engaging way. Focus on providing value, and the engagement will follow!

There’s a reason why brands and celebrities have found massive success on Twitter: it gives them a direct conduit to the people that care about them. Customer service has been taken to the next level on the site by companies such a Microsoft, who use the platform as a form of instant support, answering hundreds or even thousands of costumer tweets a day. There’s a certain “human” factor to tweets that allow users to feel more connected to your brand on Twitter than anywhere else. It’s up to you to use this to your advantage to create the growth you are looking for.

 

4. Twitter makes it easier to go viral

If one piece of content can change your life, Twitter is a great place to put it. Every day, hashtag campaigns go viral and people (and brands) have massive influxes of followers and engagement. Sometimes, all it takes is one clever tweet to bring you into the limelight, exposing you to thousands and thousands of new followers (and customers!) The power and the tools are lying right in front of you. It’s time to use them.
